We makes meals like a home cook – by hand from store-cupboard ingredients.
While we don’t add preservatives or additives, we list every ingredients we use on the packaging, which includes ingredients in ingredients we use.
Some store-cupboard ingredients will contain loads of sub ingredients. If we use sliced white bread to make breadcrumbs, for example, they include the following:
White Bread (contains: Wheat Flour (Calcium, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Water, Yeast, Salt, Soya Flour, Fermented Wheat Flour, Emulsifiers: Mono- and Diacetyltartaric Acid Esters of Mono- and Dyglycerides of Fatty Acids, Sodium Stearol-2- Lactylate, Vegetable Fat (Rapeseed, Palm), Flour Treatment Agent: Ascorbic Acid)
Check your bread at home and you’ll likely find a similar list on the packaging. Of course, it begs the question of why bread has got so complicated, but it certainly doesn’t mean we’re adding anything dodgy to our food. If you see additives or preservatives listed, it means they’re contained in a kitchen cupboard ingredient we’re using.
That being said, we are consistently reviewing our ingredients and while it is not always possible, we will try to find additive-free alternatives without affecting the great quality and taste our customers know and love.
