COOK shops, like any other food retailers, do have food hygiene ratings which are awarded by the local authority. You’ll usually see these displayed in the shop window or near the till – just ask a member of the team next time you're in, and they’ll be happy to show you.
However, the meals themselves are made at our kitchens in Kent (and our puddings in Somerset), which is classed as a food manufacturer, rather than a restaurant or takeaway. Manufacturers don’t receive a Food Hygiene Rating in the same way, because they're regulated by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and local Environmental Health teams under a different inspection system – which is just as thorough.
We’re proud to operate to the highest standards in food safety and hygiene, and our kitchen is regularly audited by both internal and external teams to make sure everything’s up to scratch.
Hope that clears things up, but do get in touch with us at feedback@cookfood.net if you’ve got any more questions – we’re always happy to help.
